Greetings one and all!
It’s been another busy year of beekeeping and beekeeping events. Remember the Symposium? We had great speakers in Karen Roccasecca, Rebecca Masterman, Meghan Milbrath, Deb Delaney, and Samuel Ramsey. A double-double shot plus one of beekeeping goodness.
Starting in March we had another very successful Short Course and hopefully at least someone reading this has survived their first year as a beekeeper with the information and experience they gained in the Short Course. The 2018 Short Course has been announced, if you want a quick refresher.
I think we had the biggest HoneyFest ever this year with fantastic events at Glen Foerd, Wyck House and Bartram’s Gardens. I made it down to Bartram’s for the first time this year and was blown away by the crowds and the good energy of all attending. It was packed to the gills!
We’ve had excellent speakers this year with visits from Robert MacKimmie, Randy Oliver, Margarita López-Uribe, all of whom joined via telepresence. In July the ever wonderful Don Coats visited us in person. And we did a lot of internal presentations this year with a couple of ‘Ask a Beekeeper’ evenings, and presentations from our members. Not to mention Harvest on Henry and the Awbury Autumn Festival.
This month our meeting is a pot luck. So, if you can make it, please join us at the Awbury Ag Village at 2pm on Saturday, December 16 to look back on 2017, enjoy the peace that you only get when your bees are clustered, and start scheming for 2018.
