Tree Philly  Announced at a Press Conference in Rittenhouse Square today that…. registration is now open for their Spring Yard Tree Giveaways.  It’s a tree for all!…and the BEES will love them!!!……

Each spring and fall, Tree Philly’s  Yard Tree Giveaway program provides free trees for city dwellers to plant on private property. Trees provided through this program must be planted in the ground (a grassy area or lawn) on private property in Philadelphia, and may not be planted in a container or in the sidewalk.

The bee-friendliest trees available this Spring are:

💚 Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboretum)
💚 Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina)
💚 Witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana)
• Black Tupelo / Blackgum (Nyssa sylvatica)
• Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium)
• Apricot (Prunus armeniaca)
• Robinson Crabapple (Malus ‘Robinson’)
• the regular eating Apple (Malus domestica)

Registration is now open, and some of the best trees go quickly! Trees will be distributed on the first and second weekends of April, at four locations around the city.

For more general information on the BEE Friendliest trees, see the Bees and Trees Section of our Website.
