SUMMARY:Paul Niemczura and David Harrod - Guild Monthly Meeting - Third Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Mite Bee Gone LLC is a local enterprise privately owned by Paul Niemczura that after 10 years of testing and development has registered a 100% natural Biopesticide for Varroa control that is easy to use and totally benign to your honeybees.  Our secondary goal of sustainability is looking achievable as we meet the challenge of mass production so we can provide a cost effective product to beekeepers. During our meeting we will also discuss how we can work together to make this an inclusive product as well.  Hope you are able to join us to discuss this new product on many levels. \n\n\n\nAnd \n\n\n\nPast Guild President David Harrod who will present what he knows about the new Honey Jawn™ honey extraction trailer\, the extraction committee and the results of our analysis of the potential for a Beekeeper’s Coop that we did in collaboration with the Keystone Development Center thanks to a Farm Vitality Grant from the PA Department of Agriculture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe meet at 7pm at St. James School. 🐝

SUMMARY:Urban Beekeeping - Apiary Session
DESCRIPTION:This is the second apiary session for our 2026 Urban Beekeeping Intro Class since the first one in April was canceled due to cold weather. \n\n\n\nPlease review and sign the Guild Apiary Liability Waiver. Before you come. You can complete the form online below the PDF. \n\n\n\nYou don’t need to bring anything other than sensible shoes and casual dress to the apiary session. We will provide bee suits and expert guidance. \n\n\n\nAs to what’s sensible in shoe-wear\, it’s best to have something with a high top that the bee suit can cover. If you don’t have anything like that wear heavy socks that you can pull over the bee suit. This will protect your ankles. The rest of you including your hands will be covered. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be looking at colonies during the fastest build up period of the year\, on their way to swarming or even post-swarm and we’ll discuss population dynamics\, swarm prevention\, and swarm catching.

Feel free to bring your photos and observations about unusual behavior and climate impacts. \n\n\n\nA button to launch the Zoom session will appear here. If you don’t see it you should\, as if by magic\, fifteen minutes before the chat starts. The passcode will always be “beechat”.

SUMMARY:Urban Beekeeping - Apiary Session
DESCRIPTION:This is now the first apiary session for our 2026 Urban Beekeeping Intro Class since the other first session in April was canceled. \n\n\n\n We’ll be looking at colonies during the peak of the nectar flow as they rush to put away as much honey as possible while conditions are best. Swarming is still a possibility so we’ll be keeping an eye out for swarm signs. We will also discuss what to expect in the months to come as nectar dries up and we start to prepare for fall and winter.
