Beekeeping Job Openings

Recently our own Jeff Eckel, board member and State Bee Inspector took a new job with the Carversville Farm Foundation.

If you don’t know about Carversville you should check out their website. They are a non-profit devoted to providing high quality food to food banks. It’s really quite inspiring.

They have hired Jeff to start a large scale honey production operation in order to add honey to the food that they provide. Again, it’s hard to overstate how important this is for food security and good nutrition in our area.

This move has opened up two new opportunities for beekeeping employment. These are both seasonal jobs, as are pretty much all beekeeping jobs, but both are full time during the season March – November.

Job 1

The first is for a Seasonal Beekeeper Assistant at Carverville, reporting to Jeff. The official job description is in the PDF below where you will also find information on how to apply.

Job 2

The second is to fill Jeff’s oversized shoes as the State Bee Inspector for SE Pennsylvania. You can find the job description here – if that link doesn’t work you can go here – Commonwealth of PA – Opportunities for All Job Seekers | Sorted by Job Title ascending | Find Your Passion for Public Service and search on ‘Apiary Inspector’

If you do apply for the inspector job you should also e-mail the State Apiarist Karen Roccasecca who would be your boss. Here e-mail is kroccasecc at pa.gov

It’s rare for two such awesome opportunities for beekeeping employment to open at the same time! Good luck to all of our members and followers in pursuing them!
