Amelia Mraz of Half Mad Honey and Meghan, a graduate of Temple University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program – presenting on their research study on the impact of beekeeping on the wellbeing of older adults – Guild Monthly Meeting – Third Thursday
November 19 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Our November meeting will feature Amelia Mraz of Half Mad Honey and Meghan, a graduate of Temple University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. They will be presenting on thier research study on the impact of beekeeping on the wellbeing of older adults.
Amelia fell in love with beekeeping in 2016, when she impulsively signed up for a beekeeping class at Temple University. She was really struggling with her mental health at the time, and beekeeping grew to become a meditative and grounding practice, and true therapeutic outlet. As a public health and mental health worker (BS, MPH), she believes that therapy needs to be expanded outside of clinical settings. Half Mad Honey is dedicated to creating awareness surrounding mental health and wellness, and providing a safe space for all people to learn about bees, build confidence, and connect with peers and nature.

Meghan graduated from Temple University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in 2026. She was drawn to occupational therapy through a deep passion for helping and serving others. The profession’s holistic and client-centered approach resonated with her values and affirmed that OT was the right path. Her capstone research explored the impact of beekeeping as a therapeutic modality on the mental health and occupational performance of older adults. This work deepened her appreciation for the ways in which nature and everyday activities can serve as powerful therapeutic tools. Beyond her studies, she has been a member of her cohort’s community, serving as Secretary of Pi Theta Epsilon, the occupational therapy honor society, where she contributed to fostering scholarship and professional development among her peers.

We meet at 7pm at St. James School. 🐝
