We have received an urgent plea for help from the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association for help with the honey ice cream stand that they present every year at the Farm Show.
The Farm Show is not a major destination for us in the Philly area but if you’re interested in agriculture and seeing what’s going on in PA in regards to any agricultural pursuit, this is a good opportunity to visit. You can also visit the Beekeepers Education area and the Marketplace. They have an amazing observation hive(s) set up and lots of beekeepers show up.
They’re offering to pay all or part of your hotel in exchange for one or two shifts at the ice cream stand. This is necessary. The Farm show is HUGE. And if you don’t make a point of avoiding traffic by getting there outside of rush hour you’ll spend hours in line waiting for parking. I think the easiest would be to go up there on a weekday afternoon, work a shift, stay overnight, visit the show the next day, and then work a second shift. A free trip to Harrisburg and all you need to pay for is food an gas!
Here is the message from the PSBA Board:
The Annual Farm Show in Harrisburg is quickly approaching January 4-11, 2025. As some of you are aware, the PSBA runs the Ice Cream Stand, Marketplace and the Learning Center. This event can not be successful if we do not have volunteers.
The Ice Cream Stand is in desperate need for volunteers. ESPECIALLY EVENINGS!! If you can volunteer one or even a few shifts, that would be of great assistance. Sign-up are done through Sign Up Genius. The Sign up pages are below.

Due to the number of volunteers needed to work at the Ice Cream and Waffle Booth, we offer hotel reimbursements if you drive over 2 hours, work an evening shift, and/or shifts over multiple days. If you work one evening shift you may be reimbursed %50 of your hotel cost up to $75. If you work an evening shift and a shift the next day you may be reimbursed %100 of your hotel cost up to $150.
Thank you in advance
