Trap Pollen for fun and science!

There’s some urgency to this opportunity.

The Center for Pollinator Research at Penn State is seeking beekeeper volunteers in southeast and southwest Pennsylvania to provide weekly samples of pollen trapping from March to late May (~12 weeks). Your honey bee pollen will help us understand the role of tree pollen in providing early spring honey bee nutrition in urban and rural landscapes.

If needed, we can provide you with 2 pollen traps for your apiary, plus tips on how to use and install your traps. After processing your pollen, we will provide you with a report of the plant types (to the plant genus level) found in your pollen samples.

Experience with pollen trapping is preferred, but not required! Click here to view our digital flyer (or scroll down) and click here to fill out our google formPlease fill out this form by February 25th. Study participation is limited by available funds within the study regions. We will notify you if you have been selected for participation by the week of February 27th.
